Paddle boarding (SUP) in Jávea
Glide along calm turquoise water on a stand up paddle board – Jávea's coast is made for SUP.
Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) has exploded in popularity along the Costa Blanca, and Jávea's sheltered bays and clear water make it one of the best spots in Spain to learn or improve. The early morning calm at Arenal is particularly perfect for beginners.
Boards and lessons are available from operators on Arenal beach and at the port, with prices starting from about €10/hour.
Where to SUP in Jávea
Arenal beach offers the calmest water and easiest launching. From the port you can paddle into the marina and along the rocky shore. Cala Granadella is more advanced but spectacular.
Lessons and rentals
1-hour beginner lessons cost €25–€40 with board and paddle included. Rental rates from €10/hour or €40/day. Most operators provide leashes and basic safety briefing.
SUP yoga and tours
Specialised operators offer SUP yoga at sunrise and guided SUP tours along the coast to the calas – a great way to explore the coastline at a relaxed pace.
When to go
Mornings are best – the water is calmest, the light is most beautiful, and the wind has not yet picked up. Avoid windy afternoons, particularly in spring and autumn.
