Day Trip from Jávea to Valencia

Spain's third city, Valencia, makes a fantastic full-day trip from Jávea.

Valencia is 110 km north of Jávea (about 1h 30m by car or 2h 15m by ALSA bus). It's a vibrant Mediterranean capital with a UNESCO-listed cathedral square, the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, and the birthplace of paella.

A full day is enough to see the highlights. Stay for an overnight if you want to experience Valencia's lively bar scene and a proper dinner.

    Must-see in one day

    • City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias)
    • Cathedral and Plaça de la Reina
    • Mercado Central (one of Europe's largest food markets)
    • Turia Park – former riverbed, now a 9 km linear park
    • El Carmen old quarter

    Where to eat paella

Valencia is paella's birthplace. Casa Carmela on the beach is the most famous (book ahead); La Pepica is the classic seafront alternative. For inland Valencian paella try Restaurante Llevant.

    Getting there

By car: 1h 30m via AP-7 (toll-free since 2020). Park at the City of Arts and Sciences. By bus: ALSA from Jávea, 2h 15m, around €18 each way.

    Best time to visit

Spring and autumn are most pleasant. Las Fallas (15–19 March) is spectacular but extremely busy. Avoid August if you don't like crowds and heat.
