    Local markets in Jávea

Fresh produce, crafts and the famous Thursday market in the old town – a slice of authentic Jávea life.

Markets are at the heart of life in Jávea, just as they are in every Spanish town. The big weekly market in the old town has run for centuries and locals still do their weekly shop there – fresh fruit and vegetables, olives, cheeses, jamón and clothing stalls.

There is also a small artisan/craft market in summer and a year-round daily food market at the Mercado Municipal.

    Thursday morning market

Held every Thursday morning around the Plaza de la Constitución and Avenida del Plà – the biggest market in town. Arrive before 11:00 for the best produce.

    Mercado Municipal

The covered indoor market hall in the old town – open every morning (closed Sunday) for fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. The most authentic place to shop.

    Artisan market

A small summer evening market on the Arenal promenade – local crafts, jewellery and gifts. Runs Tuesday and Saturday evenings in July and August.

    Tips for visiting

    • Bring cash – many small stalls do not take cards
    • Bring your own bag
    • Best produce arrives early; flowers and bread sell out by midday
    • Don't haggle on food prices; mild bargaining is OK on clothes and souvenirs
