Mediterranean fish, locally grown produce and Valencian rice dishes dominate the menus. You will find everything from family-run tapas bars charging €2 a plate to one of Spain's most celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants, BonAmb. Most kitchens open from 13:00 to 16:00 for lunch and reopen at 20:00 for dinner. ## Three main dining zones Each area has its own character and price range. - Old town – authentic tapas, traditional Spanish, intimate squares - Port – fresh fish, seafood paella, casual harbour terraces - Arenal – seafront dining, international cuisine, family friendly ## Local dishes to try Don't leave without tasting these Jávea specialities. - Arroz a banda (rice cooked in fish stock) - Suquet de peix (fisherman's stew) - Cruet de peix - Espencat (smoked aubergine salad) - Mistela dessert wine from nearby Teulada ## Booking and timing In July and August, popular restaurants book up days in advance, especially seafront tables at sunset. Lunch is the main meal of the day for locals; dinner starts late. ## Vegetarian and dietary needs Most restaurants now offer vegetarian and gluten-free options.
