Jávea Port (El Puerto) is the historic centre of the town's fishing tradition. Working fishing boats still leave at dawn and return in the afternoon for the daily auction, while the marina has grown into a relaxed hub of seafood restaurants, sailing schools and morning cafés.

Less polished than the Arenal and quieter than the old town, the port has the most authentically Spanish atmosphere in Jávea – ideal for travellers who want to slow down and eat very well.

## What to see at the port

The most unusual building is the church of Nuestra Señora de Loreto with its concrete roof shaped like an upturned boat's hull. The promenade and marina are perfect for sunset walks.

## Seafood and dining

The lane behind the port hosts the best seafood restaurants in town – fresh red prawns from Dénia, arroz a banda, fideuà and grilled fish from the morning auction.

## Boat trips and excursions

Boat trips to the northern coves leave from the marina daily in season. Half-day, sunset and snorkelling trips are all available, plus boat rentals with and without licence.

## Practical info

Free and paid parking is easy to find. Local bus lines connect the port to Arenal and the old town.
