| Tree preservation We have preserved all the olive trees, carob tree, strawberry trees (Arbutus unedo) and Holm oaks, age-old trees of great beauty. In addition, we are transplanting nursery pine trees into some plots to replace those inevitably lost during the development, and are planting hundreds of palm trees in plots and lining roadways. Roundabouts are also planted with mature native trees such as olive and carob. Natural parkland In the surrounding natural parkland, we have cleared the undergrowth to avoid the risk of forest fires, and are opening up trails and footpaths. Soil redistribution All excess soil is being redistributed throughout the urbanisation, avoiding the need for landfill or having to import soil from quarries. All building rubble in each plot is carefully removed and replaced with a deep layer of topsoil, which is dressed with fertilised soil and seeded with Mediterranean grasses. Green zones In addition to the walkways and parkland, there are a number of 'green zones' on the site, where organic material, plastic, paper products and glass can be deposited, for collection and recycling. |
