There is a very wide range of activities and sports in Jávea, including golf, tennis, bowls, horse riding, hiking and walking, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, water-skiing, jet-skiing, wakeboarding, snorkelling, fishing, squash, go-carting, quad-bike hire, clay pigeon shooting, cycling, mountain climbing, mountain biking, cricket, netball, badminton, football and basketball. It is famed for its walks, and the information centre will give you a walk guide featuring 14 different routes. All water sports are popular, of course. Golf There are two courses in Jávea, and several excellent courses within half an hour’s drive. Jávea Golf Club is a full length 9 hole course, popular with locals and tourists. The course has gently sloping wide, open fairways. Facilities at the Club include a practice green, driving range, tennis and squash courts and a club house with two bars, a restaurant, changing rooms and caddy area. La Sella is an 18 hole course (6,072 yards) that lies next to Montgó natural park, surrounded by wonderful Mediterranean woodland. The course design makes it possible for all levels of player. Tennis
Jávea has two tennis clubs, both centrally located near the Arenal area.
L'Ancora Tennis Club, has floodlit tennis courts, a swimming pool, bar and restaurant. Members can also join aerobics, yoga and dance classes. Tel: 96 5791 010.
Club de Tennis Jávea, (Jávea Tennis Club) has floodlit clay and asphalt tennis courts, and squash courts available. A swimming pool, with lessons available, and a members Gym. Both are centrally located. Tel: 96 5790 289.
Hiking and Walking There are numerous beautiful areas to walk in Jávea, from taking a slow stroll around the old town to climbing Jávea´s elephant-like mountain, the Montgó. Montgó rises up to 753 metres above sea level, nurturing one of the most valuable botanical reserves in the Valencian Region. A journey up the slopes shows a wealth of different vegetation, and provides extraordinary panoramic views from the top.
Diving
Jávea possesses more than 25 Km of coast, the majority of which consists of towering cliffs and hidden, sandy bays accessible only by boat. Sea temperature averages 26C in summer and never drops below 14C even in mid-winter. All diving locations are good for enjoying underwater life and the area is a centre for scuba diving, with several good schools running PADI courses and diving trips.
Cricket
Jávea Cricket Club was the first on the Costa Blanca and is proud to be one of Spain's top clubs. Together with the Town Hall, the Club is committed to passing the passion on to the town´s young people.
Bowls
The Jávea Bowls Club has 9 rinks. Visitors are welcome and there is a club house providing bar facilities and snacks during the day.
Horse riding
There are two horse-riding schools nearby; La Hipica and La Sella have horses and instructors for both beginners and experienced riders.
